A tradition......

So... what do we do on New Year's day?  Well, this year we had a slumber party with Abigail's buddy and of course, I served our traditional meal...pintos and crackling cornbread...with a BIG side of mac and cheese just for the girls.  They were tickled pink that we let them stay up until the new year rolled in.

My 43rd......

Well.....the day came and went....and I really don't feel any different.  Yes, on February 4, I turned 43 years old.  Our little family of three went to Connor's, one of my favorite places, for a nice dinner, then returned home to open a few gifts.  I had also had dinner with another good friend a few nights earlier that week and got several phone calls, cards, Facebook messages and personal greetings to help me celebrate the day.

And..I promise...I shared that strawberry shortcake with everyone!!!!

a new look for Abigail.....

Several months back, while at the peditrician's office, a vision screening showed that Abigail needed to have a further check on her vision. So, when the new year rolled around and things slowed down a bit, we scheduled real eye exams for Abigail and myself. Wouldn't you know..she is a bit near sighted? No wonder things have been a little blurry to her at a distance for some time. Her vision was actually at the point...that had she been old enough to drive, she would be required to wear glasses to drive. But because she is homeschooled and is always close to the board, this is not something we picked up on as early as we would have otherwise.

Me.....well...considering my age....reading glasses are in order.....no shock there. And the Walmart ones really did not work for me because one eye is slighly weaker than the other. So, here is Abigail sporting her NEW look.....

last day of 42.....

Wow! I look back and have to wonder...where have the years gone?? I remember hearing my parents and others older than myself telling me that as I got older, time would fly. Now.....I believe them.

Well, this is my last day as a 42 year old. Tomorrow..I will start a new year of my life....as a 43 year old. Really, I don't feel as 'old' as that sounds. Sometimes the mirror betrays me and I see those wrinkles, laugh lines, gray hairs, .... the signs of my true age.

But, I am happy to be the age that I am. God has blessed me and my family with everything we need and so much more. I have good health, a wonderful family, great friends, a wonderful church family and so much more. God has given a little bit of wisdom with this age (LOL) and He allows me to share it with other younger women...and what a blessing that is too!!

So, I won't complain that I am getting older.....I am glad in fact! I'll proudly tell my age.....just don't ask my weight!!
